Colourpop Yes, Please! Pressed Powder Shadow Palette

I finally picked up my first couple of Colourpop products over the summer and so far I'm really happy with everything I got. One of their most covetable releases from the past summer was the Yes, Please! Pressed Powder Shadow Palette, which I'll be reviewing in this post.
The Colourpop Yes, Please! Pressed Powder Shadow Palette comes in thin and sturdy greyish/white cardboard packaging, which also comes with a bright yellow sleeve. There are 12 pressed powder eyeshadows inside and their names are stated on both, the back of the palette as well as the sleeve it comes with. Each eyeshadow has 0,85 g of product, in total 10,2 g.

The eyeshadows included all lean on the warm side, which is exactly what I was looking for before I decided to purchase it. I find the quality of all shades very nice, especially for the price. All eyeshadows are very well and richly pigmented, they blend and build easily without looking patchy and work together perfectly. The mattes tend to kick up a bit of powder when I go in with a brush, but I don't notice a lot of fallout, except with bolder shades like Spoiled and French Kiss (which is the only shade that needs to be build up slowly or it can start looking a bit patchy, and I also sometimes end up with a fleck or two of sparkle somewhere on my cheeks when I use Butter Cake). I've tried these eyeshadows over different bases and find them to last best with an eyeshadow primer underneath. Compared to some of my more expensive eyeshadows in palettes, these are definitely up there with the best regarding their pigmentation, but through extended and repeated wear I've found them to lack a bit in the lasting department. Even worn over a primer I often notice creasing at the end of the day, which never happens with eyeshadow from Anastasia Beverly Hills, as well as some fading, but that's not keeping me away from using the palette. I also like the balance between the mattes and shimmers/metallics in this palette (8 mattes, 4 shimmers).

The palette includes the following warm leaning shades:
Full-Zip: ivory with a matte finish
Big Cocktails: orange with a matte finish
Champs: light peachy nude with a matte finish
Bling: rust with a metallic finish
Louie: duochrome red-gold with a metallic finish
Butter Cake: light yellow gold with a metallic finish
Spoiled: brick red with a matte finish
Gno: burnt orange with a matte finish
Mischief: yellow with a matte finish
Note to Self: caramel with a matte finish
Chauffeur: metallic duochrome bright orange-gold with a metallic finish
French Kiss: medium chocolate brown with a matte finish

My favourite shades from the palette include: Full Zip, Butter Cake, Spoiled, GNO and Note to Self. This is a great palette for creating simple everyday looks, as well as adding a pop of something brighter for a night out or a special occasion, as long as you like wearing warm shadows. I really like their formulation, pigmentation, blendability and warmness and would highly recommend this palette to anyone thinking about getting it. One thing that sometimes slightly bothers me about it, is the fact that it doesn't come with a mirror. This palette constantly goes out of stock, so I'm really happy I got mine during one of their restocks. Looking through their website, they have a couple other palettes right now that are calling my name and I would really like to add to my collection.
 Swatches:

Applied to the eyes:
Look 1 - Full Zip, Champs, Spoiled, Note to Self, French Kiss, Tarte Tarteist Mascara,
Look 2 - Full Zip, Spoiled, GNO, Mischief, Note to Self, Tarte Tarteist Mascara,
Look 3 - Full Zip, Big Cocktails, Champs, Bling, Butter Cake, French Kiss, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in DemolitionTarte Tarteist Mascara.
Have you tried any of their eyeshadows or eyeshadow palettes before? Let me know in the comments which products are your favourite from the brand.
The Colourpop Yes, Please! Pressed Powder Shadow Palette is available from the brand's online store here and a select range of their products is also available from Sephora.

The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Kit (shades: Charming, Sincere, Committed, Doting, Dedicated, Loyal)

Last fall I picked up a set of The Balm's Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-lasting Liquid Lipsticks that featured 6 minis from their shade range. The brand has since come out with two more sets, featuring different shades, so I imagine these sets are quite popular among their customers (and a great way to try the formula and a range of shades).

Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara

A while back I purchased a set of sample sized Tarte mascaras and finally made my way to the last one. The two that I tried before this one didn't really impress me all that much, but let's see if it was any different with this one...

Caudalie Moisturizing Toner

I often skip the toner stage in my skincare routine and prefer using mists, which are basically the same - you just apply them with spraying and not patting onto the skin/using facial cotton pads.

OUAI Haircare Morning After Kit

I love it when brands come out with travel-sized try-out kits, but because they often also contain a 'filler' item I sometimes don't mind skipping them. They are also usually a great introduction to the brand and since I've never tried anything from the brand Ouai Haircare before, I thought this Morning After Kit would be a great way to start.

COSRX Advanced Snail 92 All in one Cream

COSRX has become one of my go to skincare brands, whenever I'm looking for a reliable product with simple formulation and no unnecessary ingredients. I've tried a number of their products so far and I've mostly been very pleased with them, which is why I keep coming back, looking for new products from them to try.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light

As someone with a fair/light complexion I reach for bronzers quite often. I've tried the Ambient Lighting Blush formula from Hourglass in the past (this blush palette is still one of my favourites) and after they've added bronzers to the lineup I knew I wanted to try one.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

Rihanna's beauty line launch caused quite a stir in the beauty community and after having a quick browse at Sephora I decided to try out her only lip product that was available at the time - Gloss Bomb, a 'universally flattering' lip gloss. I visited the store on the day of the launch and the shelves only had samples left (except for some dual highlighters), so I actually had to come back a couple days later, to find that corner of the store less crowded and easier to access.

Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

I use clay based masks a lot and since I've been testing out (and mostly also loving) lots of korean based skincare I also wanted to try out some of their clay-based clearing masks. Innisfree is a natural-oriented korean brand who originate their ingredients from the Jeju Island; in this case the Jeju volcanic clay.

TARTE Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara

In the past year I've mainly been reaching for drugstore mascaras, but still had to sneak in a couple higher-end ones to try out. The Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara comes in a purple hard plastic tube with snake skin-like embossing. I have the mini version which contains 4 ml of product, while the full size has 7 ml. It comes in one shade (black) which is described as a rich black. It is a 4-in-1 mascara, promising volume, length, curl and conditioning for the lashes.

Bite Beauty The Perfect Bite Amuse Bouche Lipstick Set (Fig, Pepper, Honeycomb and Nori)

Last fall I bought The Perfect Bite set of four mini Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks. All of the shades are also part of their permanent range and I thought it would be the perfect way to try out their formula and see if it would be worth getting them in full size as well. For this holiday season the brand came out with a similar set which features 3 different shades - besides Honeycomb they added Sugarcane, Rhubarb and Cayenne.
The Bite Beauty The Perfect Bite Set comes with four lipsticks housed in a small red metal tin. Each mini lipstick contains 1,55 g of product. Their packaging feels similar to rubberized NARS packaging and is darker grey so it doesn't seem to collect dirt too badly. These mini lipsticks are actually pretty small and are perfect to use on the go and keep handy in the purse. The formula across all of the shades is very smooth, creamy, very pigmented and lasts a decent amount of time on the lips, without drying them out. I've never tried any of their lipstick formulas and was pleasantly surprised by it. The smell is sweet and not overwhelming and they even have a sweet taste (btw, all of their ingredients are food grade and basically good enough to eat). The shades included here are Fig, PepperHoneycomb and Nori
Fig is a medium pink with a satin finish. I was expecting this one to apply more muted, but it is pretty bright - nice for summer, but a little outside my comfort zone for everyday (unless I mix it with one of the other shades from the set or a darker lipliner). It has opaque coverage with one swipe and smooth creamy formula, but the shade seems to accentuate any dry patches on the lips and settles into lip lines after 2 hours of wear. It transfers slightly when drinking, stays on the lips through a bit of snacking and generally lasts for 4-5 hours on my lips.
Pepper is a warm muted medium plumy rose with a satin finish. It has opaque and even coverage on the lips in one swipe. It doesn't bleed, feel drying or settle into lips, but transfers when drinking. Within about one hour the finish again turns more matte, into a natural finish. It lasts between 5-6 hours on me.
Honeycomb is a warm peachy beige with a satin finish. It is the lightest one in the set, and as it dries on the lips the finish looses it's sheen and becomes more matte – still not a 'true' matte. It transfers when drinking, but most of it still stays on the lips, and it also doesn't last all that well on the lips through meals. It is not drying and last around 4 hours on me and fades pretty evenly.
Nori is a dark vampy burgundy shade with a slight sheen. It has a creamy texture that glides on the lips smoothly and mostly has opaque coverage in one swipe, but can look a bit patchy, so I prefer applying it as a stain and then going over with another coat of lipstick. For more precision I like to apply it with a lip brush (especially around the lip lines). If my lips are not in perfect condition it can slightly cling to dry patches and also settle into lip lines. It doesn't feel particularly hydrating or drying and lasts for 5-6 hours on my lips. It tends to wear off patchy if my lips are not in the best shape and stains the lips with a pretty berry shade.

Comparison swatches with some other lipsticks in my collection:
I really like this set and keep reaching for the shades Honeycomb and Pepper, which I would definitely consider getting in full sizes after I use them up. I think this is a great way to try the formula, which the brand seems to keep consistent with their standard sizes - the lipsticks are creamy, non-drying, opaque and have a nice staying power and they've become a formula I keep reaching for when I'm getting ready in a hurry or just can't decide what to wear on the lips that day. Bite Beauty have a range of interesting everyday shades available in this formula as well as some other more fun and unusual colors.
This year's set is available here online and you can also shop for individual shades here.

First Aid Beauty's Facial Radiance Pads

I've used a bunch of First Aid Beauty's products before and besides their cleanser I also keep coming back to the their Facial Radiance Pads. I find their ultra repair skincare line really gentle and suitable for different skin types looking for simple and effective products.

L'Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate

If I had to choose just one favourite product from the extensive L'Occitane range, I would most likely pick their body care Almond Milk Concentrate. I first fell in love with it years ago, after getting and trying a sample with purchase and have continued to ask for its samples whenever I made a purchase at their shop, because I couldn't decide or convince myself if I should actually splurge and get the full size.

Balmain x L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Lipstick Collection (Confession, Fever and Domination)

A couple weeks ago the Balmain and L'Oreal lipstick collaboration was finally released. It was designed by Olivier Rousteing and features 12 "tailor-made couture" lipsticks, housed in three different lipstick tubes - plain black with golden detail, as well as marbled blue and green ones. Their matte formula is supposed to be rich in pigments and infused with camellia oil to provide comfortable and moisturizing wear on the lips.

September Favourites

How did we get to October so fast this year? I have a couple favourites from last month to share with you today and I'm also really excited to try out some new things I've purchased in the past months that might get featured in next month's favourites (there's a post about my USA haul coming soon too).

Bioré UV Perfect Waterproof Face Milk SPF 50+ PA++++

With summer coming to an end you shouldn't forget about daily sunscreen application. I've been mainly reaching for Bioré sunscreens for two years now and have not been disappointed (my favourite so far is their UV AQUA Rich Watery Gel SPF 50+ PA++++) and I have another review ready for their UV Perfect Waterproof Face Milk SPF 50+ PA+++ today.

L'ORÉAL Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

Today I'm finally sharing some more thoughts on the currently very popular newly released mascara from L'Oreal - the Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara. You might have noticed that pretty much everyone likes this product, so I was excited to try it out. I'm always on the lookout for a mascara that will deliver glamorous looking lashes, and if it comes with a drugstore price tag, that makes it even harder to resist trying out.

August Favourites

I haven't shared a monthly favourites post with you in a couple months so I'm well overdue for posting one. I've added quite a few new items to my collection in the past two months and through testing discovered some new favourites, while also staying loyal to some older products that I've been using for several months.

Colourpop haul & first impressions

When Colourpop recently restocked their Yes, Please eyeshadow palette I hurried up and ordered one along with a couple other products from the brand, since i've never tried anything from them before. They are big on social media and mostly well known for their Super Shock eyeshadows and Lippie Stix for affordable prices, although they've added a bunch of other formulas and products since they've first started out. The brand also just recently announced that they will be expanding into Sephora's retail locations soon, which sounds very exciting.

L'Occitane Peony Petal Cleansing Oil

Last month L’Occitane came out with a new peony-infused cleansing oil which is a part of their expanded peony collection. The brand already has two other cleansing oils available (see here and here) and since I loved both I was excited to try this one out as well.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla

I first purchased this NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer several years ago and it was the first concealer where I actually found a perfect match for my skintone. At the time it was one of the most talked about concealers on the market and I've repurchased it twice so far, so you can already tell that I really like it.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara

Not that long ago I shared the review for the regular version of the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, which quickly became one of my favourites, so I decided to also pick up it's waterproof version to see if it could become a staple for summer.

SUN DANCE MED Ultra Sensitive Sonnenfluid SPF 50+ (sunscreen for allergy-prone skin)

My skin is very prone to reacting to different skincare products and it's not any different when it comes to sunscreen products. When I started using Bioré's Aqua Rich Watery Gel last year I got a whole new appreciation for the asian skincare market, but I occasionally still have a look at what local drugstores and brands have to offer to see if they've moved in the direction away from using greasy thick formulas yet.
